(Intended) Gameplay
You take on the role of a space faring species in search of resources in a dying universe. Scan the system in search of resources to upgrade your tech, and wormholes as a means to escape and survive.
I wasn't able to implement most of the scanning mechanics I had planned on creating, making the game borderline impossible to play. To show off what I've created I have removed the fog of space making all bodies in the system appear without scanning for them first
I didn't find the time to create an in-game tutorial either and the graphics are quite rough, the below image describes what the different elements mean:
GB Jam 11
Finity is my first ever entry to a game jam and the first game I've ever tried building. It's not very playable (yet) but I've spent significant time creating it and might spent a little more time finishing the project after the jam concludes.
I've had a great time participating and learnt a lot.
A lot of time was spent on coming to grips with game dev concepts and the Godot engine work. Towards the end of the jam things started to click and I realized what a mess I had made of the project. I feel like I have a much better grasp of how to create games and am looking forward of to putting that into practice.
Thanks to the organizers for hosting this awesome game jam!
